Fanfare (on T-U-L-S-A)
for Brass and Percussion
I was commissioned to write a brass/percussion fanfare for the University of Tulsa's Bela Rozsa Memorial Concert, which features winners of student composition contests as well as works from faculty and area composers. I'd never tried anything using a tone row before and thought it might be an interesting challenge. So, I spelled out "Tulsa," which ended up being the 5-note motive F-G-E-Eb-A heard through the piece.
